Overview of the Exam

Mat or Management Aptitude Test is conducted by the AIMA (All India management association) since 1988. HRD minister has approved the examination with national standards in 2003. The student who wants to do MBA or any post-graduate diploma in b-schools in India, students ask to pursue MAT. This examination is conducted 4 times in a year, in the month of February, May, September, and December.

Eligibility and criteria

Students should at least graduate to appear for the exam. Final year student may apply for this. Students from SC/ST/OBC background should have 50% marks in graduation.

Exam pattern and duration-

MAT is comparatively easier than CAT. Mat examination conducted in two modes-

  1. Computer-based test(CBT)
  2. Paper-based test(PBT)

Student can attend both CBT & PBT to send marks to 10 top universities and business school. Coming to the pattern of the examination, there are 200 objective questions that divided into 5 sections that are language comprehension, mathematical skill, data analysis and sufficiency, intelligence and critical reasoning, Indian and global environment. Duration of the examination 2.5 hours. This examination comes with negative marking. So each wrong answer the marks 0.5will be deducted from the total marks. so how the students prepare for the MAT-

Language comprehension– Mainly it deals with the core English grammar, sentence, comprehension and essay writing. This is a language-based test.

Mathematical skills– businessman should have a good account of mathematics so 2nd part is mathematics. Students need to prepare for basic mathematics for giving the mat examination. Likely- binary functions, trigonometry, lcm, hcf etc

Data analysis and sufficiency– this section consists of different data analyzing like a pie chart, diagram chart and graphs and different types of analyzing problems.

Intelligence and critical reasoning– this section has mostly logical reasoning part. Like- logical thinking, statement and conclusion, assumption and premise conclusion and others.

Indian and global environment– this is for general knowledge, current affairs, contemporary knowledge and more options.

How many days result are valid?

MAT score is valid for one year only.

How to book an exam?

Student can book the exam online or offline. For online student need to register in the AIMA website then fill-up the form and process accordingly by paying fees online by debit card or credit card. The students who want to do by offline, download the form, fill the form and affix photo and send with demand draft.
